Our partners at Qatar Red Crescent, in collaboration with IHD , are keen on intensifying their efforts in providing medical assistance to residents in NW Syria, especially after the earthquake on February 6, 2023. The Qatari brothers are implementing a humanitarian medical project titled "The Medical Convoys Project for Syrian Displaced Persons and Host Communities in Northern Syria," which aims to offer specialized surgical services to patients, services that are scarce in the northwestern region of Syria. This is achieved by regularly sending specialized medical delegations and missions to the area.

In the middle of last week, a medical delegation supported by the Qatar Red Crescent, in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation, Sidra Hospital, and Aspetar Hospital, completed a medical mission to Al- Rahma, Aqrabat, and Bab Al-Hawa hospitals in Idlib Province. The delegation included specialized doctors in orthopedic, spinal, urological, pediatric, and reconstructive surgeries, headed by Dr. Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, a consultant urologist at Hamad Medical Corporation.

The mission performed 103 major, complex surgeries, including the correction of urinary tract deformities, the extraction of urinary stones, spinal injury repairs, correction of congenital deformities in children, as well as surgical and cosmetic reconstruction of facial and skin deformities caused by burns and trauma. These surgeries are not available in northern Syrian hospitals due to a lack of medical technologies and specialized staff, where patients would previously be transferred to Turkey. Additionally, the team provided 200 consultations for complex medical cases and conducted three training workshops benefiting 41 doctors working in northern Syria.
