After reporting a number of cases of diarrhea and respiratory infections in the camps and villages surrounding the Al-Habat site in the Maarat Misrin region and studying the reasons for the spread of these cases, it became clear that there is a waste dump through which liquid waste is leaking towards groundwater sources.

To see the reality and analyze the damage, Idlib Health Directorate accompanied a mission from the World Health Organization #WHO and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs #OCHA to conduct a precise study due to the presence of a group of medical waste incinerators around the area.

After the mission inspected the site, accompanied by Idlib Health, and met with the local residents and stakeholders there, a set of solutions were proposed that contribute to eliminating sources of pollution, by transporting medical incinerators, ensuring the safety of sewage lines, and conducting an analysis of groundwater to detect and treat other sources of pollution
