Local community is a key partner for Idlib Health Directorate in building a comprehensive and integrated health system, especially in light of the significant decrease in international support for the health sector. One of the results of this constructive cooperation was the opening of the Eye Surgery Department at Wassim Hassino Hospital in Kafr Takharim. The equipment was secured through local donations. This department is the first of its kind in the #Harem area, which lacks eye surgery services in all its health facilities. Patients from the region are forced to travel long distances to reach medical services, either in hospitals in Idlib city or in #Al-Hikma Hospital on the #Bab_Al_Hawa highway.

The Eye Surgery Department was equipped with an ophthalmic microscope, which is the cornerstone of the department's work, in addition to a phacoemulsification device for cataract surgeries. The department will also provide patients with most eye surgeries, such as strabismus, tear duct surgery, eye nail surgery, and eyelid freezing, in addition to emergency surgeries.
